We would first like to introduce you to one of our favorite and most loved coffees!  Our coffee beans from Guatemala are a crowd pleaser.   This bean is delicious as a drip coffee, pour over, espresso, and even works cold brewed.   In short, you cannot go wrong brewing this bean any way!

Our Guatemalan beans are from an organic and Rainforest Alliance Certified farm.  They are handpicked form the Finca Palo Blanco Estate in Huehuetenango.  They are grown at a higher altitude and therefore produce a denser bean.   They are grown using three different varietals of the coffee plant, Bourbon, Caturra, and Catuai.  Each of these plants yield Arabica beans which are a higher quality than the Robusta bean.   We receive these green beans at our roastery here in Las Vegas from our importer, Olam Specialty Coffee Importers in California.

Once the green bean reaches us, we then lovingly roast this bean to a light-medium roast.  We have spent countless hours cupping and testing each of our beans to achieve the most optimal flavor profile and produce the best tasting version of each coffee.  It’s hard work, but someone has to do it!   Our coffee from Guatemala has notes of ripe red fruits, raspberry, chocolate, cherry, and almond with a heavy body.  We like to refer to this specialty roasted coffee as our “snickers bar coffee”.  It has notes of chocolate, nut, toffee, caramel, and a hint of fruit.  Thirsty, why wait?!

Brewing

If you are going to brew this bad boy as a drip or pour over, we suggest using a ratio of around 1-18 grams of coffee to water respectively.  For instance, 4 grams of coffee would require around 80 grams of water for a 1-20 ratio.  Now if you are not as familiar with grams and would like an easy way to measure, you can use 2 tablespoons of ground coffee for every 10 ounces of water when brewing hot drip coffee.    If you would like to make cold brew with this coffee, it really depends on your preference.  The stronger you make the coffee, the easier it is to dilute with water when ready to drink.  To make smaller batches of cold brew, use 1 cup of ground coffee for every 1 oz of water, or 1 pound of ground coffee for every gallon of water.  If you do not care for a cold brew that will give you caffeine superpowers, we suggest toning down the ratio and using more water.   If you would like to use our awesome coffee as an espresso, we recommend 7 grams for a single shot and 14 grams for a double.  The Guatemalan bean is so versatile though and is fun to brew in different ways at home!

We brew this coffee and other specialty roasted coffees for our farmers market booth and you may have tried this bean already and know how wonderful it is.  If you have not, it is one to order and try for yourself!  We deliver to all 50 US states and offer home delivery in Las Vegas. We are always at the Downtown Summerlin Farmers Market Saturdays from 9 am to 2 pm and on Sundays from 9 am to 2 pm at the Southern Highlands Corporate Center in Las Vegas.    We hope you gained some good insight into one of our superstar beans and we look forward to serving you soon!
